RoHS stands for "Restriction of Hazardous Substances" and is a European Union directive.
This “Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, (RoHS) Directive 2011/65/EU” was established to prohibit the sale of electrical and electronic equipment containing certain hazardous substances including; lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), in the European Union.
In order to comply with this requirement, Opengear products have been tested for hazardous substances according to the analysis guidelines in the IEC 62321:2008 standard (test method for determining the levels of Pb,Hg, Cd, Cr VI and their compounds) and passed.
All CE-marked Opengear products are now covered by a RoHS compliance statement in the EU declaration of conformity in addition to safety and EMC requirements.
