A serial break signal can be sent to a connected serial device to signal it to enter a pre-boot environment or other special operating modes.
When connected to the serial port via portmanager, use the following escape sequence to send a serial break:
- Hit <enter>
- Type: ~b
Note that the OpenSSH command line client also uses ~ as its escape character. Therefore if you are connected using the command line OpenSSH client, you must send a second ~ character:
- Hit <enter>
- Type: ~~b
Alternatively, you can change the default escape character, see this article for details.
Note that all Opengear devices are Sun Break Safe.
