The Operations Manager's local console port provides access to its CLI shell via a direct console cable connection, or another console server.
Some models (e.g. OM2200) have a dedicated RJ45 local console port, labeled CONSOLE. On models with this port (e.g. OM1200), the first SERIAL port (1) is the local console.

Some models (e.g. OM2200) also have a dedicated micro USB local console port, labeled CONSOLE. This is often the simplest way to make a quick connection, as it just requires a standard USB cable with no explicit port configuration.
Connect a console cable
Note: The pinout of the RJ45 local console port is X2, i.e. the same as all the other RJ45 console ports on the Operations Manager. This is the "reverse" of a console port you would find on a Cisco device.
RJ45 to a laptop or PC: To connect the local console port to a DTE DB9 serial port, (e.g. a laptop or USB to RS-232 adapter) use a straight-through Cat5 patch cable and the included 319015 adapter.
USB to a laptop or PC: If available, the micro USB CONSOLE connects directly to any system that supports FTDI USB serial connections; this includes most modern Windows, macOS and Linux systems.
Connect to another console server: To connect the local console port to another Opengear console server, configure the upstream console server port for the X1 pinout, or use a rollover cable. Alternatively, if your console server supports FTDI USB serial (e.g. another Opengear console server), you may connect via USB.
Log in to the local console
Regardless of how you connect, the local console requires user authentication. The factory default credentials are:
