Bonding multiple switch ports together on the OM1208-8E is supported, with the following limitations:
- Round robin balancing mode works but it requires that a corresponding bond is configured on the switch on the other side. This mode can work without cooperation of the other side but that is only true if all bond members have distinct MAC addresses, which the switch ports on the OM1208-8E does not. If the other side is not aware of the bond it will be confused by the duplicate MAC addresses.
- Transmit load balancing and active load balancing modes do not work. They require each bond member to have a distinct MAC address, which the switch ports on the OM1208-8E does not.
802.3ad mode works perfectly and it correctly negotiates with a partner switch with no extra configuration.
